If you are playing a running QB, keep contain. Alabama never did this one time last night. They spent the entire game getting beat around the edge because they could not be bothered to keep contain. Go back and watch. That’s how FSU was able to convert countless third downs all throughout the game. Absolutely ridiculous.
Also, can Alabama be bothered to show a single ounce of effort? This may be the sloppiest defensive performance I have ever seen. Absolutely ridiculous.
As for FSU, they were never going to be as bad as they were last year. Norvell is much too smart for that. He was tasked with rebuilding all sides of the ball and outside of that early drive where they got bullied down the field for 9 minutes, it certainly looked like he did just that. Gus Malzahn was a home run hire and it currently looks like Castellanos was a great get from the portal. With that being said, this was an abysmal performance by the Alabama defense. Still, a lot for FSU to be excited about.
